This seminar teaches the fundamental tools used in physician chart auditing. It is designed to teach chart auditing at a beginners level at a very slow pace. Topics to include: new patient vs. established patient, consultations, inpatient visits, critical care, 1995 vs. 1997 guidelines, and documentation requirements.

The seminar reviews the OIG 2007 Work Plan and audit schedule. The OIG conducts investigations of fraud and misconduct. Areas of concern include billing services companies, physician pathology services, physical and occupational therapy, Part B mental health services, evaluations of “incident to” services, and E-M services during global surgery period.
